I noticed the xp buildings in the new maps aren't giving any extra xp, i assumed that would of gone up too?

Academy doesn't give more XP than it was giving before, this rule is applicable only for battles. At the same time the probablity of building generation is increased to match the new explore energy cost so the chance to find every building is higher an thus the effect of every building is increased too.
