Since the feature to seize a random pet was removed there really is no penalty to never feeding them, besides not having any money of course.
Still, there are plenty of days I end the day with less money than required to feed my pets (if I had no food) by my own choice; I spend it all. XD
Right now, a person could technically do that every day before roll-over, and avoid having to feed their pets. Just put it all into item and pet auctions with no repercussions.
I think it would be a good idea to stop pets that haven't eaten that day from being able to level up. After all, diet dictates stats, so logically if they are getting no food they shouldn't gain stats. Once a pet hits the EXP they need to advance to the next level, it "freezes" and they stop gaining experience.
Or perhaps they could level up anyway but get no, or much less than normal, stat increase.
I also considered having hungry pets be "tired" and regenerate energy less slowly but that seems unfair. After all, if you are legitimately out of food and money how are you supposed to get more if you can't explore with them? Potentially the same for quests, so they can still make you money if you are struggling to feed them all.
I do think it would also be fair if the pets were too tired to build things or train in the ridinghall however.
Or it could be argued that maybe you need to downsize if you can't feed them all and those things should be limited. I dunno.
I don't expect this to be popular but still feel it should be done since the feature in it's current state is ripe for abuse.
(Also this suggestion doesn't distinguish between feeding your pets with gathered food or silver deducted from your account. Both count as feeding.)
