History & More

This clan resides in a dense woodland where shadows seem to dance, and light is scarce, and where hidden streams, lakes, and ponds abound. In the middle of this territory is a mountain which is used as a camp. Being taller than the trees, it pokes out of the thick canopy. This forest is rich in life with fertile surroundings. On the outskirts lies a rocky cliff, which the clan uses for sacred ceremonies, and a beach opposite the cliffside that leads to a moorland the tribe does not travel to; they send exiles and intruders there, but use the beach for festivals. They use the natural caves in the mountain as dens, storage, and meeting places for clan meetings.

Personality:
These cats are often loyal and honest. They grow up in a tight-knit group; they are the last to join a fight but the first to stop it. They are fierce in battle, but you wouldn't know it, as many females have a strong maternal nature. They tend to be cautious and think ahead. They will side with the majority, then the minority, even if they don't agree, to avoid disharmony. They can be headstrong when they believe they are right.

Appearances:

Having darker pelts, these cats are used to being invisible in the shadows they call home. Often with striking eyes, cats with hetchroma are seen as reborn leaders or holy beings destined to make or break the clan. Having a lighter pelt is usually a bad omen, indicating that these cats will cause strife or discord in the tribe, and they are often banished to the moorland at 17 moons. These cats have a smaller build that lets them navigate the dense forest they call home with controlled ease.

Strategies:
These cats often hunt in groups of three to minimize noise, maximize success, and ensure smooth, harmonious teamwork. These cats sleep through the day, especially during summer when the heat becomes almost unbearable. They live in mountain caves for the cool breeze and remote location. They live inside the caves to avoid harsh winds, rain, and snow.

Caste System:
||Chief||: (Lives:7)
Runs the clan and rules as a dynasty; they have the final say and are seen in a glorified manner, and are spoken to and about as such.
||UnderChief||Healer||:
(UnderChief-Lives: 4)(Healer-Lives: 3)
(UnderChief)They are second in command and take over the clan if the Leader is unwell, unfit, or their heir is. They will only rule the clan when the Chief dies, and if the heir is deemed unfit by the clan, they serve as advisors or resume their duties. They say who hunts, they also accept or veto who may be mates and bring the clan's future, except for the hetchromas.
(Healer) They tell the cats when the best time to have litters is, nurse the cats attacked by predators and such back to health, and often take the underchief job when deciding who should mate with whom. Cats can only be healers when they have had 10 moons' worth of training from the previous Healer, or if they are incapacitated, they take over the job.
||Stalkers||Mentors||Guardians||Nursers||: (Lives: 1)
(Mentors)
Teachers of the tomorrows are usually skilled in their duties but can no longer serve the clan due to old age or injuries; they consist mainly of hunters and guardians.
(Stalkers)
They are cats who work in groups of three. They are often incredibly compatible, and many become lifelong friends or mates. They are chosen based on personality, effectiveness in certain skills, and how easy or well they work with others. They have three roles in total: Scouts, who find the prey; Wilders, who attack the prey to weaken it; and Ends, who wait until the prey is distracted and then leap to finish the job, often helping Wilders. Scouts are smaller, lithe cats; Wilders are larger and more powerful. Ends can be either, but are usually built similarly to Wilders.
(Guardians)
They protect the clan and fight to chase away predators near the camp or training grounds. They are the only cats in the tribe awake during the day, as they rotate shifts to keep the tribe secure. They are also stationed at the entrance of the camp and in front of the Leader's den, Nursery, and Prey pile. Two Guardians follow the Chief and Healer to keep them out of danger. They often have a surplus of brute strength and are bigger than most of the tribe.
(Nurserers)
They are pregnant she-cats who have kittens or are expecting kittens. They are treated lavishly as they carry and raise the future.

||Tomorrows||Kits||(Lives:1)
(Kits)
They are the youngest in the clan and become tomorrows at 7 moons. They help Mentors who have trouble moving around or are missing a sense at 4 moons of age (e.g., Blind, Deaf, or those who cannot smell).
(Tomorrows) They start training at 7 moons and continue until they are 17 moons. At 10 moons, they are chosen for a path (e.g., Hunter (<-- Subdivisions), Guardians, and, less commonly, Healers). Under 10 moons, they are trained to see which of them have the skills for each role they may one day fill. After they have been assigned a role, they are split into groups, the hunters into three. They will eat, sleep, and train together until their trial test, which will determine whether they are ready to be made Hunters. If not, they train for 3 more moons before they pass the trial. Guardians go into troops of 5 and do the same as hunters; they do not have a trial test, but they train for at least 30 minutes each week. Until they have 3 moons of experience. In the event there is no eligible mentor, they will be placed with a cat on active duty who should make time to train their apprentice in the ways of the clan.
(Healers)
They train alone or, on rare occasions, in a duo. They train for 10 months, and they are given a trial test to develop a medicine for a diagnosed illness. Then they have to diagnose and treat a cat that the Healer has not diagnosed.

Special Ceremonies
The Mark of the Moon - Every full moon, the clan leaves at dusk for the Cliff and basks in the light of the moon. They celebrate the life of the tribe, and all cats come from kits 4 moons and up to mentors who have seen the worst and best of the clan. They tell stories; the Mentors speak of past leaders. Then, at dawn, the Healer asks Adonai (Their God) to bring another moon of happiness and fertility. Then the cats leave for the camp.

NewMoon Festival - Once every two moons, the Hunters of the tribe gather at the beach for a contest to see who is the best. The winners are given the titles Head Scout, Head Wilder, and Head Ends. They are then in charge of where the hunts take place till the next Festival.
Festival of Eyes - When a hetorchroma cat is born (known as a Holy Cat), the Healer, Chief, and father of the Holy Cat meet at the cliffside to thank Adonai for the blessing of a Holy Cat. Then they return to the camp, and the Healer then makes a special medicine that the Holy Cat drinks before they become a Tomorrow, and after they graduate into a role.
Today Festival - This is when the Tomorrows are given their roles and start serving the clan. This is held at the Clifside. Only the Chief, the Mentor of the tomorrow, and family can go. (Clanmates may come with permission from the Chief)

Common Phrases + Their Meanings:
May the moon watch you - Keep safe (Said when guardians change shifts or when tomorrow stalkers start their trial test hunt.)
Stars and Heavens - You startled me (Said when something drastic happens, or a cat gets scared.)
Moorlands reject you! - Keep out of trouble and danger (Said when Stalkers hunt or told to Tommorow's)
Sandfur - You're annoying (Said when a cat is aggravating another cat or acting like a kit.)
