How do i get the game's main currency? Ik, super basic question, but idk!

One way is by exploring islands, which are also a good way to gain other important resources--I highly recommend this guide: https://beastkeeper.com/thread/5404
Another way is by selling pets or items. I wouldn't recommend those for a new player, though, since you're still building up your resources and your group of pets.
Tip: Have a plan. Know what you want to spend your money on, and only spend it on those things, if you want to make quick progress. I would suggest taking a look at the list of genes (Help > List of Genes) and figuring out what you want to buy/breed.

Go to Trading > Item Trades > Create Lot. :)
