If gold coins are purchased with RL money, as I think they are, how many do you get for one dollar?

Probably one or ten. The site's economics are still being tested, almost every single price will change on release date, about in two months.

If I had a say, I'd say about 5 each, and lower the premium cost to 25 GC. That way:
Premium would be 5$
A Rainbow Jar would be 2$
Those fancy foods would be 20 cents
That sounds pretty fair to me.
