i created a golem, but i don't see it. is there a reason, and what do they do?

Look under Inventory - Golems.
Your golem will take a certain amount of material then double it, paying it back to you over ten days.
Some golems triple the amount you get back.
Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
