If I look at the tactics of a pet who has not been gene reaserched at all, will the tactics give me an idea of what genes the pet has even though I didn't research any of his/her genes?

In order for you to see the tactics you need to research the genes, thus, it's impossible for you to use the tactics list to figure out the genes, besides maybe the red ones.
