I have been writing poems lately, and I am just wanting some feedback. How good are they? Should I keep writing?

Here is the first one:

What Poetry Is...

Poetry is like a word,

It rolls off of the tongue.

It's a beautiful word, like fair,

Or a word of great despair.

Poetry is like a bird,

It flies away up high,

And takes my heart wherever it goes,

Or whichever way the wind blows.

Poetry is like a song,

It fills me up with joy.

It raises my hopes and creates my dreams,

And runs in musical streams.

Poetry is like a book

That really has no end.

But the writer must stop writing,

So I'll say goodbye, my friend.

I think your poems are lovely, keep it up and if you're looking for a challenge try and make an interesting poem about something you find boring or dissinteresting. I'd love to see what you come up with :)

Thank you! I actually have been working on this poem for a while now, even before I started the other one. It's not finished yet and I'm still unsure about a lot of things, but I will post it anyway.

I looked up high,

High into the sky.

There I saw a dragon,

With a dragon eye.

Way up high,

In the great blue sky.

Green and gold her scales shone bright,

Through the dark but star-filled night.

Her claws were sharp, her teeth were too,

Though she would never attack, not out of spite.

She looked at me, her eyes lit up bright

On that dark but star-filled night.

She came down from out of the blue,

Her big long tail shimmering like new.

I looked at her and she at me,

And we both knew it to be true.

For to love a dragon is a feeling so grand,

It could break your heart right in two.

So what do you guys think? Sound okay?

Okay, this new one is super random. It just popped into my head, so I started typing it.

The way things are,

The way they can be.

The way things should be,

And the way they never will.

When the four corners meet

At the edge of what could be real,

And what would have been right

Is more than what's wrong,

And when the moon shines brightest at the peak of day,

When the sun shines too, in the darkest of ways,

When all is as it might not always be,

Then will come a time that you will see

Is different from the times of we.

For in this new world

Of paradise and suffering,

All will have the chance

To make a choice and never choose

What it is they are deciding to do.

And all the men and women and children,

They will one day look up to the stars.

And wish for the times of simpler ways,

Or, perhaps they will not.

And maybe - just maybe - they won't have to wish at all.

For perhaps by then,

Maybe, just maybe,

Perhaps we will all be gone.

See? What'd I tell ya?
