I've read some of the threads here and I'm still a little confused as to how does genetics work on this site. There are dominant and recessive traits, and a baby can inheirit one trait from each parent in each catergory. The trait it inheirits is random? It doesn't matter if the trait is in the left or right column in the parent's genetic table? Also what determines which trait is the dominant one when a baby is bred? From what I understand the trait with the higher Genetic power is the one that is dominant. So that means if you want a rare, 'weaker' power like the Fire Gland and such to be dominant, the other trait that the baby inheirits has to be even weaker. Or did I just misunderstood things entirely? @_@

Yep, you've got it right. Here's an example:

The parents: http://beastkeeper.com/pet/125 and http://beastkeeper.com/pet/841

The baby: http://beastkeeper.com/pet/3662

If you look, you can see that the baby got for the pelt color gene Brown from the father and Red from the mother. However, Red has a higher Genetic Power than Brown, so it's the one that is dominant. You can see this with all his other genes too.

Ok thanks! It's easier to see when there's a solid example. :D

Looks like you got really lucky with Nocturne, too. If Black is rare, how is he carrying Red instead of showing it? Shouldn't Red have the higher Genetic Power?

A few bits of silver is nothing in real life...but it can be the difference between a stable expansion and limiting your breeding goals.
