My unicorn mare, Dameris has strong muscles gene, and yet only has a maximum of 21 breedings? yet a male griffin i have which has normal muscles has up to 90 breedings, is this a bug? a difference because of the breed? or a difference because of the gender?

It stills depends on the strenght, not on the genes. You can have a strong muscles gene while you have only 17 or 19 in the strenght section. The genes only increase/decrease stats.

A small addition. Dameris is a female. It's a lot harder to bear out a child and give it birth than just to fulfill the male's duty :) Males have a few more times available breedings than females.
