My reptile catcher has been unavailable since I used one during the tutorial. I have enough licenses. F5 doesn't work. I wasn't sure for a while if this was normal and the reptile catcher was something special.

You don't have any Reptile Catchers. Please hire at least one if you want to use them. Also you have only 2 licenses purchased and 2 catchers on the map. If you would like to place 3 catchers simultaneously, you need to purchase one more license.

They disappear if they are attacked and have to run away.
