The sprites, while exploring, have a default that all creatures revert too. The unicorns are white, dragons are brown, etc. The explore sprites do not share the same color as the creature you are exploring with.

Oh, then it was just by chance that both my unicorn and my puma had sprites that matched their colors? I see. Sorry, seemed like a bug because only one of mine didn't match.
