Okay so I made a squad because I found a hibernating lykos egg, so I need the vermillion from the battlefield.

But I forgot one of my ponies was out of energy, so I can't put them on the battlefield. And so I go to replenish his energy with a drink.
However I am not allowed to because he's now apparently "Researching".

Researching what?

It just says Researching, indefinitely apparently because there's no timer. I have tried reading the FAQ, it doesn't mention why my pets would be researching. They all have all their abilities and genes so why would they research them?
And also they won't replenish any energy while Researching, so the pony is stuck not being able to replenish energy. Why?

FYI: I never really bothered with the battlefield before, I tried it once, didn't really like it, I just want the liquid vermillion to hatch the lykos.

"Researching" status means that your squad is researching a way to open the portal to the battlefield in the mirror world. The time depends on how many research potential points your squad has. You can cancel the research process by going to the battlefied, selecting mirror map and taking your squad off the battlefield with the "Leave Battlefield" button (the one with red cross and green arrow). Please note that research progress will be lost in this case.

The second thing that I want to mention is that you don't need Liquid Vermillion to hatch your Lykos Egg. Eggs are activated with Liquid Deviance while Liquid Vermillion is a way to improve the genetics of the pet. So if you want to hatch the egg then you need to focus on getting a deviant pet.
