Is there a way to search for a specific pet that currently resides in the pound? I tried it in the search function and it doesn't seem to work. Do I have to wait until someone adopts it before I can find it?

Unfortunately, you cannot search the pound. You can however search the pets that are up for auction (Trading > Pet Trades)
