By some luck/kindness I have obtained a Vermillion Golem Recipe but I need 30 Vermillion. Is it an incredibly rare item to find in explore?

Hm, I wouldn't call it incredibly rare, but it's definiely not something you come by very easily. What can help is the Astrologist. You can type an item you are looking for into the search field, and the Astrologer will help you find it (=increase the chance that you find the item while exploring). Of course for that you first need to get the Astrologist's blueprints and then have enough materials to build it.

My suggestion would be to just keep exploring islands with your pets. Eventually you will find enough Vermillion to build the Golem. Afterwards make sure to always have enough Vermi left over to rebuild it every 10 days. That way you at least have a steady daily supply.

If I'm not mistaken if you explore with a pet with agile paw you will find vermillion easier.

Yes, if i recall pets with agile paw/agility will be able to get vermillion from the magic seal on treasure chests.

The golem recipes are most likely harder to find in shops because they are in demand, and therefore coveted.

I'd recommend exploring the grasslands. Vermillion seems to be extremely rare on some island types. I rarely find any in the jungle, for instance.
