so I thought I would take the Golden Idols up on their offer to trade TEN (10) of my unicorns' Courage Points for Agility to even them out a bit.

Now, no one is going to complain about that Agility spike, but the severe drop in Courage actually affected his battle skillssss ;____; could someone look into this please?

Copper Idols swap the basic stat values. The basic values of swapped stats for your pet are 57 and 102, so the difference is 45 points, not 10. Idols do not affect genetics and other modifiers in any way. In this case your pet has Agile Paws gene which increases the basic Agility value by 25%.

But it told me it would only switch 10 (TEN) stat points, not their entire base value? I wouldn't have done it if it was all of the base stats? 

It doesn't tell the number of points that will be swapped, only stat names. The exact text for the Idols looks like this:
