For my pet #246466 the pet info lists:

"Children: 0

Breedings: 1/24".

She hasn't been bred, to my knowledge (that is, since the moment I bought her), so how is that even possible? And if she has been bred, then where did the offspring disappear to/why isn't it listed?

Breeding points are spent as payment for Copper Idols. Most likely you swapped characteristics of this pet on island.
