I put a bunch of pets on the battlefield, I haven't figured out how it works as yet & now the group I put on the battlefield doesn't show up as being on the battlefield when I go to it but it DOES list them as on the battlefield & unavailable for quests when they come up there. So HOW do I get the group off the battlefield?

Use button 3 to remove your squad from battlefield at the any moment and from the any place.
Please check out Tactics FAQ and this news post about Mirror world and research potential; I believe this covers almost all of the tactic aspects.

Nope, I've clicked that several different times & the squad is still listed as being on the battlefield.

Did you switch the tab to the map where your squad is right now? Your squad is on the mirror, not on the homeworld.

Yes, I'm on the right tab that says squad A, clicked the red x & arrow button multiple times, still on the battlefield.
