The confirmation to sacrifice a pet pops up such that the confirmation "yes" or "no" are below the level of my taskbar (which I can't minimize any smaller.) For a pet without parents, the very edge of the confirmation buttons are above the line and therefore can be sacrificed. For a pet with parents, the extra lines caused by parents' names (I think??) push it down below the line, so I'm stuck with the pop-up until I navigate away from the page.

this is really frustrating because now I can't sacrifice this pet. (If a mod wants to do it for me, that'd be really helpful.)

EDIT: I use Google Chrome on Windows 7. Scrolling moves the page behind it, rather than the pop-up.

Sorry, this window wasn't designed for such low resolutions. We don't have pets without parents in the game. I moved the buttons to the top of the dialogue to make them accessible from any device. Also you can sacrifice any pet from it's profile by using "Sacrifice" button.
