I put my one Sword Scheme up for trade in the Exchange and then took it off because I changed my mind. The Scheme is no longer in my inventory, I didn't sell it or give it away, and I haven't used it.

Bug? Or maybe I missed something in the rules?

Okay I think it was my connection that bugged. It reloaded and put it back in the exchange after I fixed the trade. Carry on!
