Random box is like the treasure chest on islands. It can contain premium items, recipes and materials.

nightingale: it's the box in the premium shop (5 gold coins).
since it's rather expensive, I'd be interested in getting a hint at how many and what kind of items it cointains. maybe someone opened a random box already and could share some insight?

I opened 2 out of curiosity and got 1 Scheme: Climbing Gear and 1 Dragon Maple xD

drak: yes, this definitely sounds comparable to island chests (or to winning against a temple guard, maybe). probably really not worth it.
(that was a bit disappointing, I guess. if you'd have wanted to buy dragon maples for gold, you would have gotten 5 for that price in the premium shop...)

Like mutagens... I tend to not be lucky with these chance items. So I just sell or gift 'em. :)
Maybe the price of what is inside should be more equatable to the price paid for the box itself... to make it a bit more worth it...

I bought two of them. Not really worth it, but maybe they have better stuff occasionally:
You got 1 Scheme: Energy Drink.
You got 8 Vermillion.
You got 600 silver.
You got 10 Vermillion.
You got 3 Vermillion.
You got 900 silver.

Hey guys? On the topic of random boxes. I bought one just for giggles, and opened it.
It took me to a page that said
"Oops - The Following Errors Occured
It's probably fine, since I'm 95% sure I didn't have vermillion before I opened it, but I'm still curious if that's something I should submit as a bug? I wanted to know what I would get, and just found myself with 1 more vermillion, I probably got more than that, but I don't know what, because of this.

It seems like it is a bug. You should report this in the Bugs-Forum so Angel can ckeck this ^^
