Since this where creativity goes, I guess I shall dump whatever creativity I have here lol :T

Anywho, since joining this site, there are several things that irks me about the pets available (Nothing bad to the artist or anything, just personal input). I've decided to use my failure of an artist skill and just do simple redraws of the species available.

I've also noticed you can do custom skins here, so maybe if people like the redraws, I'll make a useable PSD out of the sketches/arts I do for people to freely use if they want to with credit to me as the artist.

Gryphon

Status: Sketch Phase

Notes: This is the very first redraw I'm doing for the Gryphon. Several things bugs me about the original On-Site Gryphon, but I guess the most is that backwards claw on the farther hind leg xD It won't be as fluffy as I'm doing on the sketch, I just have a bad habit of drawing fluffy things. I may redo the entire face again so it resembles the actual Gryphon on-site, more bird-like than mammalian.

Puma

Status: Sketch Phase

Note: This species, out of all the ones available on Beast Keeper bothers me the most as far as the original site art goes. So I did take the liberty to do a redraw where it's more closer to the actual animal's generic body whilst in the same position, somewhat, of the site's pose.

I'd like to use your sketch to make a free-to-use lineart for the site. Are you fine with it? I don't mind if you aren't okay with it, but I think your art is amazing and deserve to be used.

I'll actually be making the lineart/PSD as free for use originally, so it's really no need ^^;

I appreciate your compliments though c: I'm hoping to get more of it done today as well as do a complete head switch so it'd look more like the on-site Gryphon.

xD I'll try to sketch some more up soon, perhaps some smaller 'younger' versions of the species for those who have that taste.

Also, I've updated the front post with the first snippet of the Puma Redraw

Looks great! I need to get better about drawing right in photoshop... I still need to use paper first.... o.0 Love that gryphon! If you need help with wings check out tutorials on DA. They are super helpful and it's how I learned.

You're art is definantly better and beyond... but I don't know... maybe I can share these tutorials that I found helpful....

Wing Tutorials:

http://kamakru.deviantart.com/art/Folded-Wings-Tutorial-144121936

http://majnouna.deviantart.com/art/Drawing-Birds-part-1-22106533 (This is a series)

http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&global=1&q=folded+wing+tutorial&offset=24 (Not the greatest but it shows the folded wings bit)

I'm stuck in about the same place as you.... I'm drawing a wolf for my layout on Aywas... I just re-did the lines but I saved them to my USB not my computer so I can show you the rough draft (I swear the new one is much much better and cleaner and not with stupid wavering lines!!!) I'm stuck with my wings also...

I really do love the gryphon though... :D

Those are pretty! And they have better anatomy than the on site beasts... The dragon irks me too, it has such a thin neck! And yes the mamalian paws on the puma and griffin could be better... (My favorite is the cockatrice, not much to correct on this one!)

Well, the art IS relatively good here! I've seen much worst! But a few things could use a little correcting... (and yours, black, are a great step ahead! especially the gryphon)

I could redline that for you Night. Just leave me some time, and I'll be back.

Still avatar-less? Want something personalised to represent you on-site? I might be able to help you! http://beastkeeper.com/thread/1577/#9243

Here: http://imageshack.us/a/img547/818/redline.jpg

I did not have any reference for the wings in that position, and my skill on akwardly placed perspectice intense bird wing are pretty limited, but here are a few things that I saw on your drawing:

-The musel was too thin, long and angled for a wolf. Wolves have a rather short and square musel when compared to a lot of dogs. (see http://stormwolf.webs.com/Whitefur2.jpg for reference)

(keep in mind I did not have any leg ref either, so my corrections might not be 100% exact)

-The left front leg was set much too fat into the body and a bit too folded for it to seem confortable.

-The right front leg was much too long, especially comparated to the other one.

-The back legs seemed a little thick at the base, and didn't seem to make much sense when trying to figure out where the bones went. Also, keep in mind that wolves are very fluffy, and the conection to their body is mostly hidden (you don't have to make those lines go that far.)

-A common mistake, tha tail mas MUCH too long. Mine might even be a little long still. Foxes have huge tails. Wolves, not so much.

-Feathers should be rounder, as to not look like hairs.

-Try to keep your wing pose consitent. Bird generally flap their wings in unison.

-Check out those rows! they aren't exactly the same as on the front of the wings, but a 3 row of feather (you got them right on the other wing!) is enought, with the flight feathers being much longer than the rest.

Overall not bad, but I'd recoment looking at more references when you draw! It will remove much of the eay to avois mistakes you did!

(AND back on topic...)

I hope that Angel will change her mind, but actually, as stated in the rules, using someone else's art to make your skin isn't allowed. So this means you can't do free to use linearts unless you ask Angel. Maybe you could ask her if you can do official alts? I'm not sure she'll accept though.

Those look nice. The gryphon's wing put a smile on my face because that is essentially what I do until the last minute. Once or twice I've done "insert wing here" on a WIP. XD

I look forward to seeing them finished, thank you for sharing.

Considering I made these linearts specifically for this site, people should be able to use them as skins  Fya. I believe Angel is referring to linearts that are free for use off-site since they were not made specifically for the reason BeastKeeper uses them for.
