A day or so ago I went to Explore, the shield said manual, I had left it on auto like 2 hours before, I clicked to put it back on auto, nothing happened, so I had to do manual battles which was annoying & took a long time compared to using auto, it says Synchronization was perfomed. right above the game window. I have tried playing on 3 different devices since yesterday, I tried putting 1 of my pets in auto battles under the battles tab I am completely unable to use auto mode in ALL battles. I did Ctrl+F5 as is suggested under bug reporting & it didn't do anything so it doesn't seem to be an issue on my end. Also I accepted a manual battle under the battles tab & while I accepted no battle ever came up despite someone challenging me.
