One of the quests right now has a requirement for a black Unicorn. That is the only requirement, it doesn't need a special ability or to be a specific gender. I have one, but the quest says I don't have a pet that meets the criteria.

Have you done genetic research?
Usually those quests qualify once you have researched those genes which creates the wanted outcome. ^^

Yup, i just checked your stable and saw the unicorn in question. You need to have the Black and the dominant Normal gene for its colour researched for the uni to show up in the quest.
this is the same with all colour requirement quests, like white gyrfalcon roc or piebald cockatrice. Only when their colour genes have been researched can they be used for quests.
