I believe all pets of the same species use the same sprite for exploring.

If you mean the image of the dragon when you are exploring then these are stock images that only change based on the species of your active pet
I think the use of these basic images is because it would be a pain to make minis of all the species colorations and then what would you use for custom skinned creatures?
