i have a little question, and i hope someone can help me.

the question is about the item Mutagen.

can anyone tell me what this is doing? 

you must know that my english is not good, thats why i am not understand it. 

i understand that i can change one of the gens form a selectet pet into another gen (with will chance randomly). is that correct? 

and when yes, can i choise the gen witch i want to change?

Mutagens take one gene and randomly change it to another. The chance of what gene it affects and what gene it turns to is random also. You do not get to choose anything.

In my experience, mutagens are a waste on good pets and hail mary on bad pets to make them any better.
