So just to be sure about something..
When your pet reaches level 50, it still costs the food from it's diet (n either food or gold) regardless of reaching level 50? It's stats will stop increasing but the food or $ used to feed it will still be paid even after level 50?

Yes I think it does, even after 50 they have to be fed the gold everyday = keep only the pets you need or want if you need to budget.

I guess doing something financial each visit is a must. Fill the quests and do at least a few explores each day to make up for it. I think if you get lucky with a few quests, and do at least 5-6 explores you should break even or more.

When I first started playing I'd adopt an animal that could fulfil a quest once per day. As there are a finite number of quests, I can now fulfil 98% of them.
