I thought they were just a bunch of silver but it seems like they're a premium currency? What are they used for?

They buy items in the Premium Shop - rainbow jars and change sex scrolls etc. You can win gold by coming in the top 10 of the weekly charts as well.
Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
