Buildings can often block resources or even whole islands. If a building vanished from the map when used, this would be less of a problem.

What about buildings like the marketplace or scriptorium... what if you didn't use it o.0
I do like the ability to clear them though.. they do block things. But then again sometimes I realize "oh... I do want to trade schemes" and go back..

They could compromise by making it so buildings are passable (as in, they don't block any movement) and being on one of the tiles the building it on is the same as using it (once per walk-through to avoid it popping up twice in a row while you're going over a building).
That way, buildings don't block things, but we don't have to worry about the kind of thing Nightingale posted.
