This is probably a very silly topic, but has Coral drawn anybody else's attention? It's the only item that has no discernible use/purpose in the game, not being included in recipes or anything along these lines. It's also exclusive to tutorial maps AFAIK, so without trades, you can only acquire 2 per person.

Is it supposed to just sit in our inventories looking pretty, or is it part of a future development, or am I overthinking things again? xD (I'm fairly certain the last option's the most likely one)

There is also another item Laminaria which currently has no use.

And actually coral and this Laminaria where foundable regularly so "older" players have more than 2 of them. xD

Oh! I've only been here for a week and honestly assumed those were never obtainable by regular means. The more you know. O: Still wondering what they could be for, though.

I'm sure there is something planned for them, otherwise they wouldn't been here since the start. xD

Laminaria item description says it is useful in manufacturing iodine.... no clue about coral...

I have 35 coral and 44 laminaria. I've wondered what they might be used for, but I've also noticed I haven't found any while exploring for several days. Still finding cuttlefish and shells, but no other water items. Wonder if they've been discontinued or something.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they've been discounted. Haven't ever found any despite exploring for longer than I'm willing to admit. This is also what gave me the impression that they were never obtainable in the first place.
