This happened, I was able to collect the chest and go through the portal as normal. Not sure if anything can be done about this and it’s not a big issue, just a bit weird.

Thank you for reporting! This indeed happens sometimes. We even have it in our Known Bugs here https://beastkeeper.com/thread/1226
It's very hard to track it down. Fortunately it's only a visual defect that doesn't affect the functioning of Tundra islands. I can't promise it to be fixed soon, but hopefully one day we'll be able to find the logic flaw that causes it to appear.
