And so, like, how do you make coins or treasure or whatever the name of the currency is? I've been exploring and doing quests, but how else can you make it? 

Selling pets, selling items, pounding useless pets, exploring, and quests are the main few ways to make gold. If you look in the premium shop, any of those items there can be found and sold for a decent amouth (well, except for the invites or inn people envelopes). Most/All of the premium shop items can be found through exploring as well. Hope this helps!

If you find Travelling Magician invites, those are worth a bit. They remove the black fog on the Island while exploring. Geneticist and Trainer invites are also worth more.

Best way to make money is by questing or selling deviant gryphons :)

I used to try to buy at least one questing beast a day, but also I would look in the pound for them. Striped black dragons, pure black pumas, white and blue symurghs.
