I adopted a smurgh and bred her, but it said up top 'your pet is now awaiting twins'. How does this work? I didn't use any item or anything.

Symurghs have a fairly uncommon gene called 'Fertility,' where the pet has twice as many breeding points avaliable. Females, when bred, have a 50% chance of giving birth to twins.
