Pedigree vs. Descendant of Heroes
         "Pedigree"                      "Descendent of Heroes"

Had Children prior to level 50                              No children, level 50

Non-GP(Genetic Power) Producer.                                 GP Reproducer

Produces Regular Offspring                          Produces offspring with higher stats

Characteristics
Hit Points, Bite Damage, Blow Damage, Rush Damage.

Study Note: These 4 stat categories can not be altered by the:

Premium Shop.

Important

Genes also have an effect on the pet and offspring. Read the descriptions on the gene chart carefully.

A general brief summary,

Red genes:

Not neccesarily the greatest, weak, and decrease red stat/ characteristic numbers and give red tactics.

Normal genes:

Give no stat /characteristic changes. Stay Black. No negative Tactics given.

Green genes:

Give characteristic / stat numbers a boost, and can also give a potential combo ability if chosen correctly, also gives the offspring no red battle Tactics.

Beast Keeper's Gene List

Notice the 4 important things.

Green Genes, Gene Name, Gene Group, and Gene Description.

Side note: The Black genes give black number stat/ characteristics, the Red genes are weak and give red number stat/ characteristics and tactics, and the Green genes are a plus to have (especially when they can give attack combo bonuses(read their description) if you put 2 of the correct ones they state together!

Example 1:

Let's say I wanted offspring with group "Internal Organ" to have both ...

A) Regeneration

B) Normal

I would pair both parents that have double or the same genes.

This would create both "Internal Organ" offspring.

50% chance of either Regeneration or Normal to occur.

.... Question time.

QUESTION 1:

"So why is it that my pet has low characteristic numbers that are red?"

1. Does the pet have anything that looks like either of the following:

A) Degeneration: Grade 1 Help
B) Degeneration: Grade 2Help

C) Degeneration: Grade 3 Help

If yes, the pet has been inbred.

Inbreeding results as breeding a child with a relative.

If no, proceed below to next question.

(Pulled from Wikipedia)

  • Father/daughter, mother/son or brother/sister → 25% (14)
  • Grandfather/granddaughter or grandmother/grandson → 12.5% (18)
  • Half-brother/half-sister, Double cousins → 12.5% (18)
  • Uncle/niece or aunt/nephew → 12.5% (18)
  • Great-grandfather/great-granddaughter or great-grandmother/great-grandson → 6.25% (116)
  • Half-uncle/niece or half-aunt/nephew → 6.25% (116)
  • First cousins → 6.25% (116)
  • Second Cousin

The closer they are related, the higher the percentage of red stats /characteristics.

In this case of Beast Keeper, it can only go as far back as 3 generations.... Phew!

For every Degeneration Grade, the Stats / Characteristic numbers turn red and become increasingly lower making the pet significantly weaker in certain areas compared to others, which also gives them both bad red genes and red fighting tactics. Proceed to next question.

QUESTION 2:

2. Was the pet bred with a relative (A.K.A. Degeneration)?

If yes, then one of the genes may have mutated to red gene in the gene chart for the worse as an unhealthy consequence of inbreeding known as "Degeneration". Proceed to next question.

If no, proceed to next question.

QUESTION 3:

3. Do the parents have the indicating red numbers? If yes, then the pet has most likely inherited a gene that is causing the red number to occur. Proceed to next question.

If no, proceed to next question.

QUESTION 4:

3. Did the parents not have the indicating red numbers? Trying looking back at the pedigree a little farther.

Remember, negative genes and inbreeding goes as far back as 3 generations.

QUESTION 4:

"How do I prevent red numbered stat /characteristics in the future?"

Break Time! First off, lets take a good look at the pet in question.

*Note to reader: This was my *first* ever adopted pet that has enhanced stats through the Premium Shop (only effects pet, not offspring)

Gene combo abilities:

Now we are going to inspect everything else but the skin color. This will be all of Firefly's gray and green inherited Genes vs. Firefly's dominant green Genes.

Now to bring out the list, or continue reading below:

This is going to bridge the idea about:

What Firefly's genes are

vs.

What each gene actually does.

Here is the more detailed list of Firefly's Genes.

Gene NameGroupGene PowerDescriptionFrequency
Weak jaws Jaws (Beak, Horn) 80 Bite Damage is decreased by 15%.
Cockatrice: 8.33%
Normal jaws Jaws (Beak, Horn) 70 No effects.
Cockatrice: 58.33%
Poor hearing Sense Organs 80 Decreases Critical Strike chance by 15%. 20% chance to resist shriek and roar.

Venomous skin Skin (Feathers) 30 Your pet has 20% chance to poison your opponent after he attacks you. Poison can last from 1 to 4 turns and reduces opponents hitpoints by 50% every turn.
Cockatrice: 8.33%

Now for the conclusion:

The reason Firefly has

"Bite Damage    95"

Is because of the gene:

Weak jaws Jaws (Beak, Horn) 80 Bite Damage is decreased by 15%.
Cockatrice: 8.33%

(*Note to reader: Stats once again were previously altered by the premium shop long before this, so here are other red genes causing weaker points:

Poor Hearing (Not neccesarily bad if you are looking to resist Shriek and Roar), Dystrophy, and Elemental Vulnerability.  )

QUESTION 5:
"Now, how do I prevent red numbered characteristics in the future?"

1. Breed it to a pet that's not related at all, or not within the lines of inbreeding. That goes as far back as 3 generations! This will also help ensure that future offspring will not be effected by Degeneration Grades.

2. Checking their pedigrees - 3 generations. Inbreeding results not only with mutated red genes that effect characteristic numbers, but also can significantly decrease the characteristic numbers in general.

2. Become more familiar with the green genes on the gene chart that will boost both characteristic numbers, and give no bad tactics; and their descriptions if you are looking to enhance a specialty characteristic of choice, like bite damage for example.

Gene NameGroupGene PowerDescriptionFrequency
Sharp teeth Jaws (Beak, Horn) 90 Bite Damage is increased by 15%.
Cockatrice: 2.5%
Double incisors Jaws (Beak, Horn) 50 Bite Damage is increased by 30%.
Cockatrice: 8.33%
Poisonous teeth Jaws (Beak, Horn) 40 The fangs of your pet are covered with poison. When using Bite, there is a 50% chance to poison your opponent. Poison can last from 1 to 4 turns and reduces opponents hitpoints by 50% every turn.
Cockatrice: 8.33%
Acid gland Jaws (Beak, Horn) 30 Required for Acid Strike. When combined with Spitting Muscle, replaces Bite attack and increases its damage by 50%. Opponents with Elemental resistance have 30% chance to resist Acid Strike.
Cockatrice: 8.33%

3. Become more selective with breeding one pet to another by checking the genes of both parents if you have not researched your pet already, the pedigree, any signs of degeneration, etc. to see if they carry any possible characteristic decreasing genes that will be inherited by the offspring.

4. Basic stats can also be increased when a pet levels(which is greater at later levels).

5. Diet Composition (Really useful) - To train more specifically in certain characteristic numbers.

6. Most importantly, the Genetic Power bonus. (a.k.a "Descendant of Heroes") permanent bonus points. Keep in mind it can only be done this way for up to 3 generations only.

QUESTION 6:
"Anything else about those genes on the gene chart?"

Genes, Characteristics / Stats, and Tactics go hand in hand. Red genes cause red numbered characteristics and tactics, and green genes usually cause green numbered characteristics with no bad tactics. All black Characteristics / Stats have no change, and do not effect Tactics negatively.

Even if a pet has red characteristics, they can always still breed with proper precautions and steps taken to another pet until you get 1 offspring that is not effected and has not inherited red genes. Just like building steps to a step ladder.

The Last important things to remember is this:

Tactics! If you want certain battle tactics, be sure to have the right genes to activate those battle moves on your pet.

Tactics FAQ

Characteristics:

"Basic characteristics affect the battle efficiency of your pet:

Defence depends on Constitution and Strength
Damage depends on Courage and Strength
Accurancy depends on Agility and Intelligence
Dodge depends on Agility and Intuition
Critical Chance depends on Courage and Intuition
Anti-Critical Chance depends on Constitution and Intelligence"

Once again, please refer to Beast Keeper's FAQ (click link) to find out any more information not included in this segment.

“Obstacles are only obstacles if you see them as obstacles. They can also be called opportunities.”
