I've been breeding my unicorns Tonu (GP3) and Tupuni (GP0), both at level 50, and I've gotten differing amount of genetic power in their offspring:

I often have some good pets in my Pound/Giveaways tab.  Feel free to ask for one of them.

It's possible to get GP1 and GP2 babies from these parents. GP2 babies get their second grade from 7 or more dominant genes from GP3 parent.

Hmm, this confuses me.. In the FAQ it says

  1. If parents has a difference of 2 or more grades of Genetic Power, the child won't get Genetic Power grade for parents' genes, it can get only 1 Grade for parents' levels.

GP0 and 3 is definitely more than 2 grades difference so shouldn't the baby always be GP1 from both parents being lvl 50?

Timain, I'm extremely sorry for confusion. You're right, I completely forgot about that rule, I need to be more attentive. Then MeanDM is correct too, looks like something is wrong with breeding logic here. We're investigating these pets to find out what happenned.

We refactored all GP breeding related code and tested all the cases, hopefully no logics holes will be there anymore. The existing pets that obtained one extra GP grade will preserve it, new code will affect only the newborns. Sorry for confusion once more.
